Hospice for terminally ill cancer patients initiated by Managing Committee of Cheshire Home

DEHRADUN, 23 Dec: Cheshire Homes India, Dehradun branch is located at 16 Pritam Road, Dalanwala duly registered under Society Act and various other acts. It was started in 1956. The Home provides homelike  care to mentally and physically challenged persons. Presently the Home has 43 residents. Yearly expenditure of nearly 60 Lacs comes entirely from voluntary donations from the public.
The Managing Committee of Cheshire Home has decided to start a care service for Terminal cancer patients named ‘Hospice’ as a joint venture between Cheshire Home Dehradun, Ganga Prem Hospice, Rishikesh and Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute New Delhi.
Under this banner, it is proposed to provide three kinds of services to cancer patients: 1. Free camps for cancer patients; 2. Home care for terminal cancer patients; and 3. Indoor palliative care for terminal cancer patients.
Free camp for cancer patients will be organised once a month on the last Sunday of every month alternately in Cheshire Home Dehradun and Ganga Prem Hospice Rishikesh. The first such camp is being held on 29th December 2024 (Sunday) at Cheshire Home Dehradun from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The medical team will be headed by Dr AK Dewan Chief of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute.
The other two activities will start soon and will be notified to the public.
The funds for the program will come entirely from public donations and it is emphasized that Hospice program cannot be carried out without the full economic support of public.
