DEHRADUN, 17 Jul: With the help of Maj Gen Bhaskar Kalita, GOC, Uttarakhand Sub Area, Col Prithviraj Singh Rawat and Col Dinesh Gaur, the Dehradun Ex-Services League (DESL) office, here, was renovated and made better functional with effect from, today. Financial help was provided by them for the required computers and various furniture items. At a function, today, Col US Thakur (Retd), President, Dehradun DESL, expressed gratitude for the contribution of GOC, Uttarakhand Sub Area, and their staff officers for all the help rendered by them from time to time. He recalled that DESL was raised on 9 May, 1982, and during these 37 years under the leadership of various Presidents of DESL, all Executive members and other ESM had done commendable work to sort out the most complicated pay and pension problems of ESM and Veer Narees. Col BM Thapa (Retd), Senior Vice President, pointed out that DESL also takes care of ECHS and Canteen problems of ESM and their families. Meetings of the 22 Zonal Presidents are organised to interact with them on sorting out all welfare problems of ESM and Veer Narees. Bouquets were presented by the President, DESL, to Brigadier KG Behl (Retd) and to Col SC Sharma (Retd), Sub Area Representative, during the inaugural function. Brig KG Behl, Patron, DESL, appreciated all the welfare activities undertaken by DESL for veterans and their families. Two minutes of silence was also observed to pay homage to the late Sudarshan Agarwal, former Governor Uttarakhand, and the late Prakash Pant, Minister of Uttarakhand Government. Others who attended the meeting were Cols Bhupendra Shahi, Bhagwan Singh Chettri, SC Sharma, Capts Ashok Limbu, Khem Bahadur Thapa, AS Bhandari, Neel Kumar Thapa, SS Thapa, Sub/SM Shamsher Jang Thapa, PS Gurung, Bhupendra Singh Thakur, Havs LB Thapa, Prakash C Chandola and many others.
