Dehradun, 29 Apr: District Magistrate Savin Bansal continues to uphold the tradition of public service by personally listening to the grievances of citizens in his office every day. Following the model of Janata Diwas, he has regularly issued prompt instructions to the officials concerned for a timely resolution of problems and ensures continuous follow-up. Each day, approximately 40 to 50 complainants approach the DM with their issues, and most leave with on the spot solutions to their concerns.

In today’s hearing, a widow named Shanti Devi, resident of Chheh Number Puliya, visited the DM with her son Krishna. Krishna, aged 14, suffers from hearing impairment and lost his father four years ago. Shanti Devi, who works as a domestic help to raise her children, shared her distress: despite her efforts, school authorities have refused to admit Krishna due to his hearing disability. Furthermore, doctors have advised a costly ear operation, which she cannot afford.

Moved by the family’s plight, the DM directed the Chief Education Officer to ensure Krishna’s immediate admission to the nearest government school and to submit a compliance report within two days. He also instructed the Social Welfare Department to provide Krishna with a hearing aid. Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer was tasked with arranging Krishna’s treatment under the National Health Mission’s Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) scheme. The District Probation Officer was ordered to supply books and school uniforms for the child.
