Dehradun, 6 Nov: District Magistrate Savin Bansal today summoned company officials to the Municipal Corporation office, today, to address negligence in garbage disposal at the Sheeshambara plant and to obtain an updated status of the work. Expressing his displeasure, the District Magistrate took strict action and imposed a substantial penalty for failing to meet the required standards.

The District Magistrate also spent an hour at the Sheeshambara plant, where he assessed the status of garbage disposal and also heard the concerns of the local residents. Taking into account the issues faced by the local people, Bansal directed the company to comply with the prescribed standards for garbage disposal. He also imposed a penalty of Rs 7 lakhs for failing to provide the necessary equipment and vehicles, as well as for not disposing the waste in accordance with the Sheeshambara plant’s prescribed norms. It has been clarified by the district administration that the penalty was recommended because no improvements had been observed, despite the Municipal Corporation issuing notices to the company over the past two years.

During his meeting with the company in charge of the work at Sheeshambara plant, the DM reprimanded the company officials, stating that they must operate in line with the prescribed standards and the norms and ensure proper garbage disposal at the Sheeshambara plant, taking into account the local people’s concerns. He further instructed the company to deploy the required equipment and vehicles for waste disposal and transportation in compliance with the specified conditions.

Bansal made it clear that no excuses would be tolerated. He emphasised that the company must improve its operations and adhere to the standards; otherwise, further penalties would be imposed, and blacklisting would also be considered.
