DEHRADUN, 9 Sep: Dolphin (PG) Institute of Biomedical & Natural Sciences celebrated Himalaya Day 2019 in its premises, here, today. The programme was organised in collaboration with the Department of Botany and Eco Club of the institute. On the occasion, a documentary film on “Himalayan Ecosystem & Climate Change” was shown to the students. Tahsi Sherpa of MSc Botany discussed with students the Himalayan Ecosystem. A personal oath with focus on “Save Himalaya, Save Life” was taken by all faculty members and students present. The programme highlighted the importance of the Himalaya, its ecosystems, biodiversity, and resources for climate regulation, livelihoods and socio-economics of the hills as well as plains. Emphasis was also placed on prohibiting use of single use plastic. NSS, Scouts & Guides, Eco Club and UG-PG Students of various departments took part in the programme. Dr KP Tripathi, HOD, Botany, and Programme Coordinator of Himalaya Day, Dr Archna Vaishnav, HOD, Biotechnology, Prerna Bahuguna, Dr Vidit Tyagi, Dr AK Pundir, Dr Vivek Chauhan and VR Panwar along with the students were present on the occasion.
