Dehradun, 30 Apr: The third quarter-final of the Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament for Under-14, affiliated to the ‘Schools’ Cricket Federation of India’, was played, today, between The Doon School (DS) and Doon International School (DIS), here, at Cambrian Hall.
DIS won the toss and elected to field first. Viraj and Tamish opened the innings for DS. Viraj was bowled for just one run. Ransher joined Tamish and added 44 runs in 5 overs. Ransher made 7, Maharshi, 8, and Vidit, 5, but the real performance came from Yuval who was not out for 49 which he made in 38 balls, hitting 9 boundaries. The DIS bowlers gave away 34 extra runs in their allotted 20 overs. Shivashish, Pranav, Vaibhav and Sujeet of DIS got two wickets, each. DS finally made 158 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a modest score of 158, DIS opened the innings with Shivashish and Priyanshu. Shivashish was out quickly on his individual score of 4 but Priyanshu and Sujeet steadied the innings by adding 30 runs for 2 wickets, after which DIS lost wickets at regular intervals. Priyanshu made 17, Sujeet, 22, Pranav and Rounak, 7, Shivansh, 13, and Vaibhav, 6. DS bowlers gave away 20 extras. Tamish took 3 wickets for 30, Guru, 2, for 15, and Vidit, Yuval and Advik took one wicket, each. Finally, DIS were all out for 104 in 16.3 overs, giving DS an outright win by 59 runs. They will now meet Brain Discovery Public School, Rishikesh, tomorrow, in the first Semi-final.
The 4th Q-Final was played between The Asian School (TAS) and Fylfot Public School (FPS). TAS won the toss and opted to bat first. Vipolv and Abhiyudaya opened the innings and were striking the balls well, adding 58 runs for the opening wicket, when Vipolav was run out for his individual score of 14. Aarav joined later and played some good cricket. Both added another 30 runs. Abhudaya was out for 47 made in 34 balls, hitting 7 fours, while Aarav made 39 in 31 balls. Priyanshu made 13, and Ansh, 39. FPS bowlers gave away 13 extras. Finally, TAS made 151 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a decent score of 151, Vashutosh and Ramansh opened the innings for FPS. They really applied their techniques well but Vashutosh was a little defensive in his approach because he made 27 runs but consumed 41 balls, though Ramansh played a solid innings of 74 in 56 balls, hitting 9 fours. Vikas made 29 in 17 balls. Krishna was the only successful bowler, getting two wickets for 16 runs. Finally, FPS ended at 147 for the loss of 2 wickets and lost the match by 4 runs because of their approach. With this win, TAS entered the Semi-Finals to be played tomorrow.
