Doon University committed to holistic development of students: Prof Surekha Dangwal

Dehradun, 12 Aug: Addressing the newly admitted Undergraduate and Postgraduate students at the Orientation ceremony of the University here, today, Vice-Chancellor Prof Surekha Dangwal said that, along with academics, the university regularly conducts various curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities aimed at the holistic development of students. She stated that Doon University has today become the first choice of youth due to its quality research and excellence in teaching, the credit for which goes to its positive academic environment and the dedication of its faculty, staff, and officers.
Prof Dangwal further emphasised that the university’s mission is not only to impart education but also to instil in students a sense of social responsibility and awareness of their duties as responsible citizens. As a result, the university’s students are making the institution and the society proud in reputed organisations across the country and abroad.
On this occasion, motivational speaker, noted author, and Director of Prayas IAS Academy, Dr Sushil Kumar, said that good health is essential for achieving success. Good health keeps the mind stress-free, fosters positive thinking, increases dedication towards work, and ultimately leads to success. He advised students to manage their mind, time, and career in a planned manner and stressed upon the importance of dedication in achieving these goals.
During the ceremony, Dr Udita Negi from the Central Library highlighted the facilities and importance of the library. NCC Captain Dr Smita Tripathi, NSS Coordinator Dr Vaishali, Coordinator of the Anti-Drug and Gender Cells Prof Reena Singh, Chairman of Sports and Chief Warden Dr Sunit Naithani, Dean, School of Languages, and Cultural Coordinator Dr Chetna Pokhriyal, Director, Training & Placement, Dr Swati Bisht, Controller of Examinations and Dean, School of Technology, Dr Narendra Rawal, Dean, School of Physical Sciences, Dr Arun Kumar, Dean, School of Media and Communication Studies, Prof Rajesh Kumar, Chief Proctor and Dean, School of Environment & Natural Resources, Prof SS Suthar, Dean, School of Management and DSW, Prof HC Purohit briefed the new students on various aspects of learning and the facilities provided by the University.
Under the direction of Dr Ajit Panwar, students also presented a captivating dance performance, which was appreciated by all present.
The programme was conducted by Assistant Dean, Student Welfare, Dr Prachi Pathak. Among those present were Dr Achlesh Dawre, Dr Himani Sharma, Dr Sudhanshu Joshi, Dr Nitin Kumar, Dr Vipul Goswami, Dr Deepika, Dr Ankit Nagar, Dr Absar Abbasi, Dr Komal, Dr Asha, Ram Gairola, Dr Sarita, Dr Rajesh Bhatt, Dr Ravi Kumar, and Prashant Mehta, along with all faculty members.
