DEHRADUN, 9 Nov: In a dazzling display of theatrical prowess, St Jude’s School’s annual Inter-House One Act Play Competition transformed the School auditorium into a realm of artistic expression on Saturday. This prestigious event, eagerly anticipated throughout the academic year, serves as a platform where young Thaddeusians can showcase their dramatic flair while learning valuable lessons in teamwork and creativity.
The Competition has been a cornerstone of the school’s cultural heritage for decades, bringing together senior students, each eager for a chance to stand out on stage. This yearly event highlighted not only the students’ outstanding acting abilities but also their commitment to theatre and artistic expression. As the auditorium filled with excited teachers and students, four houses presented their carefully crafted productions.
Lyons House kicked off the competition with an engaging performance titled ‘1946: A President in the Making,’ keeping the audience on the edge of their seats by showcasing the intense rivalry between Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Howard House followed with their play ‘The Spark of Rebellion,’ depicting Mangal Pandey’s transformation from a humble and loyal soldier to a rebel leader. Gardner House, in their play ‘Dr APJ Kalam – The Missile Man of India,’ portrayed his role in the development of India’s missile and nuclear programs, while Khanna House concluded the event by presenting the legacy of Shahid Bhagat Singh in their play ‘Shahid Bhagat Singh – His Life and Legacy,’ highlighting the story of a martyr and hero of India’s freedom struggle.
The program was judged by the school Director, V. Gardner and coordinators, Meenu Arya and Suchi Arora. The Competition reached its climax with Khanna House claiming victory for their captivating interpretation of “Shahid Bhagat Singh – His Life and Legacy. ” Individual excellence was also recognized, with Jaspreet Singh Jaiswal and Nivedita Kapoor receiving Best Actor awards in their respective categories. The Inter[1]House One Act Play Competition at St Jude’s School continues to be a cherished tradition that nurtures artistic talent and promotes creative expression. It provides students with invaluable opportunities to explore literature, develop performance skills, and work collaboratively.
