HARIDWAR, 15 Sep: Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra Goyal was welcomed on his arrival here, today, at the Har-ki-Pauri by students of SMJN PG College students with the performance of a street play and songs. Earlier, the Goyal offered prayers to the Ganga and participated in aarti. The EC praised the cultural programme put up by the students. He said the Principal of the college, Dr Sunil Kumar Batra and the institution were deserving of congratulations for having students who were so focused on social service. He asked for a video of the event to be sent to him so that others too could see it. He also presented certificates to six students of the college, who had performed well in the Sweep programme held in April-May this year. These were Kunal Dhawan, Ananya Bhatnagar, Hemant Kumar, Simran Arora, Shagun Chaudhary and Shivani Tyagi. Present on the occasion were SDM VK Mishra, Assistant District Election officer Harish Singh Rawat, City Magistrate Smrata Aswal Parmar and others.
