Haldwani, 9 Apr: Serious irregularities have been alleged against a former computer operator of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation (Uttarakhand Van Vikas Nigam) in Haldwani. A departmental inquiry has found him guilty of tampering with biometric records, generating fake bills to embezzle government funds, creating false emails and filing fabricated complaints. Following these revelations, the administration has lodged a case against him and demanded strict action against him.
The Van Vikas Nigam has now registered a case at Mukhani police station against former computer operator Mahendra Singh Bisht, who had earlier worked under the corporation. The police have initiated investigation after the complaint was filed. According to the application submitted by the Divisional Sales Manager to Mukhani police station, several startling facts emerged during the departmental probe.
The officials claim that the inquiry revealed that Bisht had manipulated the biometric machine to distort attendance records while in office. He had reportedly also engaged in unauthorised activities such as changing the password of the RTI portal and locking it. The most serious charge against him was the preparation of fake bills and seals in the name of a fictitious restaurant, through which he misappropriated government funds amounting to Rs 4,635.
In addition, he created fake email IDs to send false complaints against officers and colleagues, thereby conspiring criminally. He is also accused of extorting money from employees by promising transfers, misleading people by creating fake IDs of senior officers on Truecaller, and even sending fabricated complaints to the Scheduled Caste Commission in the name of an employee.
Confirming the registration of the case, SHO Sushil Joshi of Mukhani police station stated that based on the application, a case has been registered against the accused operator. Investigation is underway and further action will be taken in accordance with the facts that emerge.
