Dehradun, 22 Mar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami got married to Sripur Bichwa resident Geeta on 28 January 2011. The wedding was organized at a grand level wherein big politicians were invited to attend the wedding and bless the newly wedded couple.
Well, Geeta proved to be Pushkar Singh Dhami’s lucky charm. Pushkar Singh Dhami was politically active since his student life. But his political career took off only after his marriage to Geeta. He was elected as MLA in Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha from Khatima in 2012. He won a second consecutive term in 2017 as well.
Geeta belongs to an army family. Even Geeta’s elder brother is in the police force. Therefore, Geeta never had this political exposure prior to her marriage. But, Geeta is considered to be her husband Dhami’s backbone in the political front as well. Geeta has stood up for the people of Khatima which happens to be Pushkar Singh Dhami’s constituency.
In the 2022 Assembly Elections when Dhami was busy campaigning for his party in the entire state, it was Geeta Dhami who campaigned in Dhami’s constituency along with other workers in Dhami’s absence. Though Dhami lost the 2022 election but he has been appointed for a second term as a Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
In short, Pushkar Singh Dhami will continue to shine as he has his lady luck Geeta Dhami beside him.
