New Delhi, 18 Feb: Uttarakhand Governor Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated as the Chief Guest at the 11th anniversary celebration and felicitation ceremony of Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society, here, on Sunday.
On this occasion, the Governor felicitated doctors working selflessly for the people and also launched the society’s “Char Dham Sathi 2.0” mobile app.
In his address, the Governor emphasised that the noble objective of the Mission is to serve the pilgrims and marginalised communities residing in deprived, rural, hilly and tribal areas by providing medical support, education and other social assistance. In fact, this work is based on the basic mantra of ‘Nar Seva, Narayan Seva’.
Lt-General Singh said it is a matter of great pride for him to participate in the felicitation ceremony of doctors and physicians. Such doctors and physicians are indeed the real heroes. Honouring their service and dedication is not only an appreciation of their efforts but also a source of inspiration for all others.
He appreciated that the society has established hospitals that provide services completely free of cost and are equipped with modern facilities for public welfare. The society has set up its hospitals at Badrinath Dham and Gangotri Dham in Uttarakhand. State-of-the-art medical facilities are being provided.
He further said that the work being done by the Swami Vivekananda Mission Society and the team of hospitals run by it is proof that there is immense power in selfless service. These efforts are a lesson for people from every section on how together they can build a better and supportive society.
