Dehradun, 7 July: Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Tuesday unveiled his book, Absolute Intelligence and its Hindi translation, Pragya, at the Lok Bhawan, here. The books have been co-authored by Prof. Arun Tiwari, while the Hindi translation Pragya has been translated by Paritosh Bangwal.
The book launch ceremony was attended by Swami Chidanand Saraswati, President of Parmarth Niketan; Acharya Balkrishna, Vice-Chancellor of Patanjali University; and several distinguished guests. Prof Arun Tiwari joined the event virtually.
On the occasion, the Governor said that the world has entered a new era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with science and technology advancing at an unprecedented pace and transforming nearly every aspect of human life.
He emphasised that technology can never replace humanity. Its purpose is not to govern people but to make human life safer, simpler, more prosperous, and more meaningful. He said that balanced and sustainable development of human civilisation will only be possible when science is guided by spirituality, innovation is rooted in ethics, and intelligence is enriched with wisdom. According to him, this is the central message of both books.
The Governor said that the objective behind writing these books was not to present a new theory but to share life experiences that taught him every challenge carries within it the seed of a solution. What is needed, he said, is the ability to develop a perspective that focuses on solutions rather than problems.
Expressing confidence in the books, the Governor said that Absolute Intelligence and Pragya would inspire readers to reflect deeply on the convergence of science, spirituality, ethics, and human values, while encouraging a positive and meaningful approach to life.
On the occasion, the Governor, along with other dignitaries, also visited a book exhibition organised at the Lok Bhawan campus. The exhibition featured 108 books and publications brought out during the Governor’s current tenure by the Lok Bhawan Information Cell, various universities, educational institutions, and other reputed organisations.
While touring the exhibition, the Governor reviewed the publications and interacted with participants to learn about their themes, objectives, and significance. Appreciating their contribution to knowledge dissemination, research, innovation, and socially relevant literature, he said that such initiatives enrich the culture of learning and inspire the younger generation towards education, research, and innovation.
The event was attended by Ravinath Raman, Secretary to the Governor; Kaushal Kishore Shukla, Legal Adviser; Reena Joshi, Additional Secretary; Vice-Chancellors of various universities; and several other distinguished guests.
