Dehradun, 14 Jul: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) released two coffee table books based on Vasantotsav-2025 at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday. The first book, titled “Flower of Economic Bloom: Vasantotsav-2025”, has been prepared by Doon University, while the second, “Spring Festival-2025”, has been brought out by the Horticulture Department.
These books beautifully present the essence of the Vasantotsav celebrations held at Raj Bhavan in 2025, featuring rich information and vibrant photographs. On this occasion, the Governor also felicitated the students, faculty members, and officials who contributed to the creation of these publications.
The Governor congratulated all involved and expressed his delight at how the coffee table books vividly captured the joy, beauty, and harmony of the festival. He remarked that the books go beyond mere documentation—they are a creative expression of emotions, memories, and cultural consciousness. He appreciated the original research and creative efforts by students, which have given the books depth and substance.
He noted that the Horticulture Department’s role extends far beyond organising the festival. It is actively engaged in promoting floriculture, fruit cultivation, aromatic plants, organic farming, beekeeping, and mountain horticulture across Uttarakhand. The book by the department will serve as an effective medium to bring these ongoing efforts to the public.
Highlighting the contribution of Doon University, the Governor said that their book is not only a beautiful visual presentation but also a medium of research and creative communication. He specifically praised the students of the Department of Mass Communication for showcasing floriculture as a promising livelihood industry for the mountain regions.
He said that these coffee table books will not only be a repository of knowledge for future generations but also a source of inspiration. They will demonstrate how art, technology, nature, and research can be brought together in a meaningful way.
