Dehradun, 13 Dec: Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Friday launched the book titled “Harbans Kapoor: A Heritage of Political and Social Values” based on the life and work of the late Harbans Kapoor, former Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, at the IRDT Auditorium in Survey Chowk. The book release event was held on the occasion of the third death anniversary of Late Harbans Kapoor.
During the event, the Governor remarked that this book is not just a compilation of his biography and public service but also an account of the ideals and values he established. Paying tribute to Late Harbans Kapoor, the Governor said that he was a cornerstone of Uttarakhand politics and an inspirational figure. His life serves as an example of how a true leader should earn a place in the hearts of the people through selfless service.
Lt Gen Singh further stated that Late Harbans Kapoor’s political career was filled with numerous accomplishments. Winning elections from the same constituency eight times reflects his deep connection with the people. He added that Late Kapoor was a true leader who won the hearts of the people through his simplicity, honesty, and dedication to public service.
The Governor congratulated the Harbans Kapoor Memorial Trust, its President, Dehradun Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor, and the editor of the book, Dr OP Kulshreshtha, for the publication of the book. MLA and Trust President Savita Kapoor expressed her gratitude to all present. Cabinet Ministers Ganesh Joshi, Prem Chand Aggarwal, Subodh Uniyal, and MLA Khajan Das shared personal memories of Late Harbans Kapoor during the event. Several distinguished guests were also present on the occasion.
