CM transfers Rs 11 crores to 4,400 workers under welfare schemes

Dehradun, 20 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today transferred nearly Rs 11 crores directly into the accounts of more than 4,400 worker beneficiaries under various welfare schemes of the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The disbursement was made through DBT during a programme organised at the Chief Minister’s residence.
The beneficiaries have received this assistance under schemes including post-marriage aid, post-death grant, maternity benefit and educational support with the funds released in a single click. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dhami also instructed the labour department to intensify publicity of welfare schemes and organise camps in different areas so that maximum eligible workers could be covered. He emphasised that distribution of essential materials should be arranged near workplaces to ensure convenience for workers.
The CM also emphasised upon the importance of regular health check-ups for workers, encouragement of education for their dependent children and distribution of life-use materials through special camps. He directed that complete transparency must be maintained in the operation of all the schemes and greater use of information technology be ensured, adding that only eligible workers must receive the benefits.
It was informed during the event that during the past year the Board has disbursed a total grant of Rs 93.06 crores to 24,323 workers under various welfare schemes. Among those who were present on this occasion included Kailash Pant, State Advisor of the Contractual Board, Geeta Rawat, Chairperson of the Vigilance Committee, Mohini Pokhrial, Vice-Chairperson of the State Vigilance Committee, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, Deputy Labour Commissioner Vipin Kumar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Shailesh Sati and Senior Technical Expert Durga Chamoli. The event was conducted by Labour Commissioner Prakash Chandra Dumka.
