Dehradun, 14 Dec: As the winter session of the Uttarakhand Assembly has already been summoned with effect from 21 December, no press briefing was held for the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat at the Secretariat this evening. It was a brief cabinet meeting and only a handful of proposals were submitted for approval.
The State cabinet approved a proposal to present a supplementary budget to the tune of Rs 4096 crores in the winter session. Sources said that this could be the last time in the current financial year for the supplementary demands to be presented. In fact, the primary objective of holding this session is the pressing need to get the supplementary demands approved by the state assembly so that the necessary expenditures could be met without any obstacle in the coming months.
The cabinet also accepted a proposal to approve the Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education as the recruiting agency for nurses of the medical colleges of the state. In addition, it was also decided that no guarantee would be sought from the doctors undertaking PG courses in the state medical colleges. The original proposal submitted before the cabinet had sought approval for reduction of the guarantee amount.
The Cabinet further approved the Financial Accounts of Uttarakhand Power Corporation, which would be placed in the Hpuse during the session. The cabinet lastly approved a proposal to table the proposed regulations of the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission in the House during the coming session.
