Govt will ensure inclusive growth, development in Chamoli: Dhami

CM unveils Rs 155.36 crore development package for Chamoli

Gopeshwar (Chamoli), 15 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of a series of development projects worth Rs 155.36 crores in Chamoli district today, giving a major boost to infrastructure and public facilities under the ongoing Seva, Sushasan and Samarpan fortnight programme. Addressing a public gathering at the police ground in Gopeshwar, the CM asserted that the government’s objective is to ensure that the benefits of development reach the last person standing in the queue. He emphasised that roads, bridges, education, health, irrigation, flood protection, animal husbandry, tourism and basic amenities are being strengthened continuously. He also added that Chamoli holds immense religious, cultural and strategic importance and the state government is committed to its progress.

Dhami laid the foundation stones of 36 projects worth Rs 113.99 crores and at the same time inaugurated 27 projects worth Rs 41.37 crores. Among the projects for which foundation stones were laid today include a steel truss bridge at Jugju on the Joshimath–Niti road costing Rs 4.34 crores, a 78‑metre iron bridge on the Langsi–Dwing–Tapovan–Lanji–Pokhni road costing Rs 9.62 crores, reconstruction of the Mehalchauri–Silangna Ghaniyali road at Rs 85.24 lakhs, extension of the Chandnikhal–Radwa–Kandai–Rensu road at Rs 2.20 crores, the Vishalkhal–Devikhet–Bameshwar road at Rs 2.57 crores, restoration of 13 mountain canals in Nandanagar at Rs 2.51 crores, several flood protection schemes ranging from Rs 1.83 crores to Rs 6.83 crores, maintenance of DIET Gauchar at Rs 2.60 crores, a model veterinary hospital at Nandprayag costing Rs 4.36 crores, a veterinary hospital at Talwadi costing Rs 98.45 lakhs, a community building and parking at Sem–Top costing Rs 3.03 crores, a building for Raika Ujjwalpur at Rs 2.88 crores, parking at Nandanagar at Rs 3.20 crores, the Gognapani–Bhaduda road at Rs 4.05 crores, the Gopeshwar–Pokhri–Bacher road at Rs 4.71 crores, steel girder bridges costing Rs 3.32 crore sand Rs 2.33 crores, the Nauti–Chaundli–Lyutha road at Rs 6.99 crores, the Harnichak–Mundoli road at Rs 7.42 crores, the Tharali–Ghat (Dungri) road at Rs 9.36 crores, the Lauhajang–Walk road at Rs 3.50 crores and steel girder bridges on Telan road costing Rs 1.95 crores and Rs 2.00 crores. These projects cover education, irrigation, animal husbandry and road infrastructure.

The inaugurated projects include interlocking tiles on the Gairsain main road costing Rs 1.42 crores, the Semi–Mason road at Rs 2.71 crores, the Hapla–Gudam–Nail–Nauli road at Rs 2.34 crores, tarring of the Nandasain–Malai road at Rs 1.15 crores, DIPHL buildings at BPHU Pokhri and District Hospital Chamoli costing Rs 50 lakhs each, libraries, art and craft rooms and science laboratories in various schools costing between Rs 21.84 lakhs and Rs 26.77 lakhs, the Bairagna trout indoor hatchery at Rs 3.50 crores, a badminton hall with two courts at the sports stadium in Gopeshwar costing Rs 2.45 crores, the Kalpeshwar pathway and arch bridge at Rs 40.50 lakhs, a multipurpose cooperative society building at Pandukeshwar costing Rs 30 lakh, upgradation of the Tefna–Kandara road at Rs 5.63 crores, upgradation of the Kulsari–Gairwaram road at Rs 9.32 crores and the Lulti–Malbazwar–Pastoli road at Rs 7.75 crores. These schemes will strengthen road connectivity, health, education, sports, tourism, fisheries and basic infrastructure in the district.
