Garhwal Post Bureau

Dehradun, 15 Jul: An awareness and outreach camp for sanitation workers was successfully organised at the Valmiki Temple auditorium in Dalanwala, here, today. The camp aimed at providing health services to sanitation workers and their families, disseminate information about welfare schemes and ensure that eligible beneficiaries received direct benefits. Bhagwat Prasad Makwana, Vice Chairperson of the Uttarakhand Safai Karmachari Commission, was the chief guest on this occasion, while District Social Welfare Officer Dipankar Ghildiyal was also present.

Addressing the gathering, Makwana said sanitation workers are the backbone of society and the government is continuously working for their health, dignity and social security. He added that such awareness camps are an effective medium to deliver welfare schemes to the rightful beneficiaries.

At the camp held today, around 250 beneficiaries were provided information about schemes and underwent health check‑ups by specialist doctors, with free medicines distributed as required. Beneficiaries also received two Mahalaxmi kits and two ‘Goad Bharai’ kits during the programme. Ghildiyal explained the various welfare schemes run by the department and urged the eligible beneficiaries to avail themselves of the maximum benefits.

This was the fifth camp in the series, through which more than 1,500 people have already received health check‑ups, free medicines, information about welfare schemes, Mahalaxmi kits, Kishori kits and assistive devices. These camps are ensuring that health and social security schemes reach deprived and needy sections of society effectively.

On this occasion, Makwana also expressed gratitude to the District Magistrate of Dehradun for guidance and support, noting that such camps are being organised successfully with the administration’s cooperation. He praised the initiative as a significant step in extending health services and welfare schemes to sanitation workers and their families, and stressed the need for regular organisation of such camps in future. He also thanked the district social welfare department, doctors, partner organisations, volunteers and all beneficiaries present.
