DEHRADUN, 14 Dec: The students who went on the Bharat Darshan Educational Tour met with Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) at Raj Bhawan. The students shared their experiences from the tour with the Governor. High School examination toppers of 2024, had gone on a major academic tour on December 9, visiting educational, technicalm institutions, as well as historical sites in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Delhi.
Addressing the students, the Governor said that such tours are an essential part of education, as it not only provides textbook knowledge but also offers practical experience and a broader perspective. He emphasized that in such tours offer an exposure to various cultures, traditions, and lifestyles, which broadens one’s thought process and fosters empathy for humanity.
Lt Gen Singh stated that the purpose of the tour is not just to provide students with information about higher educational institutions, but also to familiarize them with the culture and technological achievements of other states. Additionally, it offers students an opportunity to share their own state’s culture.
He encouraged the students, saying that today’s era is one of knowledge and skill, and they should dream big. He advised the students to apply whatever they have learned during the tour to their lives and expand their thinking to a global level. The Governor also urged the education department officials to take into account the experiences gained from the students’ tour. He appreciated this initiative, stating that it would inspire other students to perform better.
Secretary Ravinath Raman provided detailed information about the purpose and aspects of the educational tour. The event was attended by Director General of School Education Jharna Kamthan, Director of Secondary Education SB Joshi, Additional Director Mukul Kumar Sati, Joint Director Anand Bhardwaj, along with officials from the Education Department and students.
