ICU facility to begin at Coronation Hospital from 30 June

Dehradun, 22 Jun: The ICU facility will be launched at the DeenDayal Upadhyay Coronation District Hospital from 30 June.  It may be recalled that, after Doon Hospital was made a medical college and Coronation Hospital turned into a district hospital, there was no ICU facility there. It is after a long time that the Dehradun District Hospital will have ICU facility. Although Doon Medical College does have ICU facility, it is no more the district hospital.

Instructions have been given to the officers concerned in this regard by Health Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat. For ICU operations, 10 staff nurses from Doon Hospital would now be deployed at Coronation Hospital. Shortage of ward boys in Doon Hospital, Coronation District Hospital and Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital will also be dealt with soon. Posts will be created for the operation of ICU and setting up of oxygen plant in the hospital. For this, instructions have been given to the officers to send proposals to the government by Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat.

He held a review meeting of the Coronation Hospital, Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital and Doon Hospital, today. Rawat disclosed that, from 30 June, ICU facility would become functional at Coronation District Hospital. Apart from the nurses, 10 ward boys would also be deployed soon in ICU so that patients do not face any kind of problem during treatment. Class four posts would be created of ward boy, ICU and oxygen plant operation in hospitals.

Additional Director, Medical Education, and Principal, Doon Medical College, Dr Ashutosh Sayana, Chief Medical Officer, Dehradun, Dr Manoj Upreti, CMS, Doon Hospital, Dr KC Pant, CMS, Coronation District Hospital, Dr Shikha Jangpangi and other officials were among those present at the meeting.
