Dehradun, 30 Jan: The eighth episode of the film series on the Indian Constitution was screened in the main auditorium this evening by the Doon Library and Research Centre. This well-known film based on the Indian Constitution and constitutional values has been directed by Shyam Benegal.
Remembering Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, Shaheed Diwas, at this programme, as a guest speaker, before the film screening, well-known puppet art expert Ramlal presented a talk on the important points of the Indian Constitution through a traditional puppet show. Ramlal expressed stated that the Constitution exists as a precious heritage for the people of India. Our ancestors have given us the path to a precious lifestyle in the form of the Constitution after a lot of thought and hard work. But the worrying thing in society is why the Constitution has not reached the grassroots for so many years.

Why are there still so many challenges before the Constitution? He stressed what people’s duty could be in this direction. Helping the common people in their lives through constitutional values should be an absolutely necessary step.
Ramlal’s puppet art was successful in leaving a deep impact on the audience. The people present appreciated it a lot.
At the beginning of the programme, Shikhar Kuchhal from the Jan Samvad Samiti mesmerised the audience by singing Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite hymn, ‘Vaishnav Jan Te Taine Kahiye’, and then ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram Patit Pavan Sita Ram’.

The programme was conducted by theatre artist Dr VK Dobhal. On this occasion, former Principal Secretary, Uttarakhand, Vibha Puri Das, Centre’s Programme Associate Chandrashekhar Tewari, Biju Negi, Vijay Shankar Shukla, Samar Bhandari, Dr Laalta Prasad, Satish Dhaulkhandi of Jan Samvad Samiti, Vijay Bhatt, Kamlesh Khantwal, Jankavi Dr Atul Sharma, Surendra Sajwan, Shobha Sharma, Alok Sarin, Devendra Kandpal, Sundar Singh Bisht, students of Aasra Trust School, many theatre artists, social workers, writers of the city, and a large number of young readers of Doon Library were present.
