Dehradun, 22 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today participated in the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha Gyan Yajna and the Sant Sammelan at Hari Seva Ashram, near Motichoor Railway Station. On this occasion, he extended greetings to the sages present and lauded the Ashram’s work in service, values and social awakening.

Addressing the gathering, the CM observed that the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha is not merely a religious event but in fact it is a medium to connect humanity with spiritual consciousness, moral values and the true purpose of life. He described the community of seers as the carriers of Indian culture and national consciousness and he reminded that throughout history various seers and thinkers have guided society and played a vital role in nation-building. He also emphasised that the contribution of the saint community in preserving and promoting Sanatan culture was unparalleled.

Dhami asserted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is witnessing a new era of cultural renaissance. He referred to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the redevelopment of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Mahakal Lok and Kedarnath Dham as the milestones which have infused new energy into India’s spiritual heritage. He added that the state government was working tirelessly to establish Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of the world.

He reiterated that the government was firmly committed to safeguarding the cultural identity, spiritual heritage and Sanatan values of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. In this direction, strict anti-conversion laws, the Uniform Civil Code and land laws had been implemented. He said effective measures were also being taken to free government land from encroachment and to strengthen law and order.

Highlighting initiatives to connect the younger generation with Indian culture and Sanatan traditions, Dhami said a Centre for Hindu Studies had been established at Doon University to facilitate advanced study and research in Indian philosophy, culture and civilisation. He added that a Pracheen Shodh Sansthan was being set up in Haridwar.

Expressing gratitude to Swami Harichetanand Maharaj, the Chief Minister urged the saint community to continue guiding and blessing the state and the nation for a bright future. He expressed confidence that with the blessings of saints and public cooperation, the resolve to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country would certainly be fulfilled.

The event was attended by former Chief Minister and former Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Speaker of the Assembly Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, Pradeep Batra, seers and other dignitaries.
