Govindghat, 6 Apr: Indian Army jawans along with Sewadars of the Gurudwara Shri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust jointly conducted a recce of the trek route from Govindghat to Shri Hemkunt Sahib on 5 April.
During the recce, it was observed that there is approximately five to six feet of snow at Shri Hemkunt Sahib. Enroute, a significant amount of snow was also found at the Atlakoti Glacier Point.

The positive aspect is that the fresh snow which fell during the last ten days will melt easily if the coming days are sunny. This will facilitate clearing the trek route and starting the yatra smoothly.
A contingent from the Indian Army will depart after 15 April to remove the snow enroute before the portals (kapats) are opened, ensuring the path is fully safe and ready for pilgrims.

Shri Hemkunt Sahib is one of the most sacred and revered pilgrimage sites of the Sikh faith, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. It is world-renowned for its enchanting natural beauty. Surrounded by snow-capped high peaks, a pristine blue holy lake, dense forests, and an atmosphere of divine peace, the place feels nothing short of heaven. Pilgrims experience both the breathtaking charm of nature and profound spiritual energy here.

The Shri Hemkunt Sahib Yatra will commence this year from 23 May. The first jatha (batch) will be flagged off on 20 May from Rishikesh.
Officials from the Gurudwara Shri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust and the Indian Army stated that all necessary preparations are being made to ensure the yatra is smooth, safe, and hassle-free. Better coordination between both sides will guarantee the convenience and safety of the pilgrims.
