Dehradun, 20 Feb: To nurture young students as “Global Citizens”, Dehradun-based Green Field School collaborated with Jiyugaoka Gakuen High School in Tokyo, Japan, to host the 2nd Virtual Student Interaction Programme on 19 February.
Dr Tomoko Imai, board member of Jiyugaoka Gakuen High School and a member of the OECD Future of Education 2030 initiative, emphasised the mission behind the programme, “Our goal is to foster deeper understanding between two friendly nations through virtual student exchange programmes. We are committed to strengthening our collaboration with Green Field School, Dehradun, and expanding our network in India.”
The programme was designed and supervised by Vicky Charissi, Research Fellow at Harvard University and former Research Scientist at the European Commission. Commenting on the initiative, Charissi said, “Our work focuses on child development and learning through interaction with AI systems, including social robots. The aim of this collaboration is to explore how social robots can facilitate interactions and teamwork among children from diverse cultural backgrounds. A similar programme is already underway with students in Uganda.”
Highlighting the international exposure that Green Field School students receive, Principal Reena Jaggi, an expert in Inclusive Education, shared, “”Our students are privileged to engage with global experts and collaborate on meaningful international projects. Green Field School is already working with Arizona State University, USA, on inclusion initiatives and has active partnerships with organisations based in the Netherlands.”
This initiative marks another step in empowering students with global perspectives, intercultural communication skills, and opportunities to engage with cutting-edge educational technologies, she added.
