DEHRADUN, 3 Nov: John Martyn Memorial School, Salangaon, Dehradun, hosted Ono Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India, Aftab Seth, former Ambassador of India to Japan and Chairman of John Martyn Memorial Trust, and Nanami Kakuta (Japanese interpreter) on campus today.
The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by the Principal, Anu Ahuja, Managing Trustee Rahul Gupta, staff and students of the school, which serves children from humble backgrounds.
Ono Keiichi and Aftab Seth took a tour of the school, interacted with the students, and observed the academic and vocational training programmes including computer education, stitching, art & craft and loom work.
They deeply appreciated the school’s mission of providing quality education and life skills to make children from humble backgrounds self-reliant and confident.
A special moment of the visit was when the students performed on the tabla. Ono Keiichi was so impressed and delighted by their performance that he himself tried his hands on the tabla, much to the joy of the children.
Principal Anu Ahuja thanked both the dignitaries for encouraging the children with their presence.
