Dehradun, 3 Nov: The TonsBridge Residential and Day School, Dehradun, hosted its ‘Spardha aur Sanskar’ Junior Sports Meet on Tuesday with great energy and enthusiasm. As the name of the event suggests, the meet brought together two ideas close to the school’s heart: competition (spardha) and values (sanskar).
Colonel Rahul Agarwal, Commandant of the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The TonsBridge Chairman, Vijay Nagar, was also present along with teachers, parents and guests, who cheered the young athletes throughout the day.
The programme began with the hoisting of the flag and the lighting of the ceremonial torch, marking the formal opening of the meet. Students from the junior classes then presented a smart and well-coordinated march past, followed by the sports oath, in which they pledged to compete with honesty, discipline and true sporting spirit. Impressive yoga and taekwondo demonstrations followed, showcasing the strength, flexibility and focus of the students and drawing loud applause from the audience.
The sports competitions saw students from various classes take part in races, shuttle races and several other events. Each event was contested with energy, alertness and a healthy competitive spirit, and the cheering from the stands kept the atmosphere lively from start to finish.
Alongside the competitions, a series of special performances added colour and excitement to the day. A mass display by students, a lively aerobics routine, horse riding and parasailing were among the major highlights and kept the audience thrilled.
At the closing ceremony, around 180 students were honoured with medals and certificates for their outstanding performance across different events. Ignis House emerged as the overall champion and lifted the Overall Trophy for its consistent all-round performance through the day.
Addressing the students, Chief Guest Colonel Rahul Agarwal and Chairman Vijay Nagar praised their effort and discipline. They encouraged the young athletes to keep working hard, face challenges with courage, and strive for excellence not only in sport but in every area of life. They also reminded students that sportsmanship, discipline and good values matter as much as winning.
The TonsBridge Director, Shailendra Benjamin, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, parents, staff and students for making the event a success. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
The ‘Spardha aur Sanskar’ Junior Sports Meet gave young students a valuable chance to build physical fitness along with discipline, confidence, teamwork, leadership and sporting spirit. The event reflected The TonsBridge’s continued commitment to the all-round development of its students, healthy competition, and strong values for life.
