Haridwar, 3 Nov: Former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore and actor Urmila Sanawar yet again failed to appear before the CBI court today, where their appearance in the case was scheduled. As a result, the hearing could not take place and a fresh date will now be fixed for further proceedings in the matter. It is the second time that, despite giving their consent for the Narco test, and expressing willingness to cooperate in the CBI investigation, both Rathore and Sanawar have chosen to skip the CBI court date.

During the last hearing, Sanawar was in jail. But yesterday, a court had granted bail to Urmila Sanawar, who was arrested and sent to jail on charges of allegedly demanding Rs 5 crores as extortion from Deepika Rathore, daughter of former MLA Suresh Rathore.

The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Avinash Kumar Srivastava had yesterday ordered her release on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 50,000 along with two sureties of the same amount. Following the completion of the surety documentation process, her release from jail was to be ensured today.

It may be recalled that Deepika Rathore, daughter of Suresh Rathore had lodged a complaint against Urmila Sanawar at Ranipur police station on 24 October. In the complaint, she had alleged that Sanawar had demanded Rs 5 crores and pressured her to transfer Ravidas Dham in her name.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested Urmila Sanawar from her residence in Saharanpur on 25 October. She was produced before a court later the same day and was subsequently sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Thereafter, a bail application was filed on her behalf. However, the plea could not be heard on one occasion due to the non-receipt of the investigation report and on another date because of other procedural reasons. The court eventually allowed the bail application yesterday. With both Suresh Rathore and Urmila Sanawar absent from the CBI court today, the matter will now await a fresh hearing date.
