As she accepted the Award, Kiran shared a few words about Nanhi Dunya. “The International Movement of Children and their Friends” was founded in 1946 by her father, Prof Lekh Raj Ulfat, who was later joined by his wife, H Sadhana Ulfat, in the selfless work for the expansion of its activities and evolution. It is a network of small centres working for the welfare of children and women from diverse backgrounds and faiths and with special needs, allowing a vast socio-cultural enrichment.
Nanhi Dunya has now completed 72 years of work flying on its own wings, without any government grants. It has grown into a widespread social movement and intends to continue to contribute to a peaceful, sustainable and integrated world by uplifting the children, the nation’s future.
