Dehradun, 7 May: A three-day campaign was conducted at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, here, under the title, ‘Be Heart Wise at 18’. On the basis of Genetic Dyslipidaemia, a study and evaluation of various parameters of the hearts of medical students, nursing staff and non-medical support staff was conducted.

In India and abroad, due to cases of serious heart diseases being found in the youth from 18 to 30 years, this study was taken seriously. The significant part of this campaign was that the medical check-up of 623 youth (boys and girls) was done. The youths showed enthusiastic interest in giving samples for testing.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director, Cath Lab, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, said that the objective of this campaign is to generate awareness in the young generation about heart diseases. He said that in India and abroad many cases of heart attack and serious heart diseases have been encountered in youth from 18 to 30 years.

Famous Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff’s daughter Krishna Shroff also came from Mumbai to join this campaign. She participated in the campaign with utmost enthusiasm. She said that this is a praiseworthy initiative related to the fitness of the youth. She congratulated Cardiologist Dr Tanuj Bhatia and the whole team of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital for this campaign.

The campaign was organised at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital from 28 to 30 April. During the campaign, two patients of Genetic Dyslipidemia were also diagnosed.

Twenty-seven-year-old Raghav is a teacher at a school. He was doing his duty at the school. All of a sudden, while teaching in class, he fell down in front of the children. In medical science this condition is called Pulmonary Embolism. Due to this, a clot of blood embolised in the pulmonary artery and caused shock and unconsciousness from which the patient may not recover if timely treatment is not provided. At Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, this patient was given heart treatment by Penumbra technique. Now the patient is absolutely healthy and has been discharged from the hospital. This case was taken as the most important one in the campaign.

In the campaign, the female students of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences participated in large number. While sharing their experiences the students said that this awareness campaign is a praiseworthy effort.
