Dehradun, 17 Jun: In a significant push towards curbing land-related malpractices, the Land Fraud Coordination Committee convened a crucial meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner Uttam Singh Chauhan at the Camp Office, Survey Chowk, here today. The meeting saw a comprehensive review of 58 registered land fraud cases spanning the seven districts of Garhwal Division. Significantly, eight cases were resolved on the spot due to a prompt submission of reports by officials and the statements provided by the complainants.

Additional Commissioner Chauhan, while addressing the gathering, issued strict instructions to all the officers concerned to treat land fraud cases with the utmost seriousness and to expedite the disposal of all pending matters. He emphasised the need for immediate action in cases where prima facie evidence of land fraud exists, directing the officials to share progress reports without delay. In instances where fraudulent land transactions are clearly established, he ordered that FIRs be lodged forthwith and that investigations be conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Chauhan further clarified that, barring matters currently under judicial consideration, all departmental level proceedings must be accelerated, and no land related case should be allowed to remain pending at the official level. The officers were also instructed to ensure strict compliance with the court orders pertaining to land fraud resolution and land management. For cases where inquiries are still pending, officials were directed to complete investigations and submit their reports at the earliest possible.

A district wise analysis revealed that Dehradun accounted for the highest number of cases, with 45 registered matters. Pauri followed with six cases, while Tehri and Rudraprayag each reported two cases. Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi registered one case each.
