Mussoorie, 30 Aug: People are facing many problems due to the frequent landslides on the Mussoorie Dehradun Road. On Sunday, too, the road was closed after a landslide occurred near Chunakhala. The road also remained closed near the Galogi Power House after a landslide. The debris and stones on the road were removed by a JCB of the Public Works Department. It took more than an hour to clear the road for traffic.
After the closure of the route, Mussoorie Police had to face a lot of difficulty in managing the traffic due to the long queue of vehicles on both sections of the road. Local people said that the Mussoorie Dehradun Road had become a danger as there are many landslide prone zones. They said that people are putting their lives at risk while traveling on this road. They wanted the installation of signboards at danger sites. After Unlock 4, the movement of tourists to Mussoorie is expected to increase, and with this, strong security arrangements needed to be made. Security personnel had to be deployed in the landslide prone areas so that accidents could be prevented.
