Dehradun, 7 Nov: The Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of Sardar Bhagwan Singh University hosted an enlightening event, the SBSU Expert Lecture Series I, featuring distinguished speakers Dr Jay Prakash Verma (Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi), and Dr Giridhar Babu Anam (Yeungnam University, South Korea).
The event was inaugurated by Prof (Dr) J Kumar (Vice-Chancellor), whose inspirational words motivated and captivated the audience. Dr Verma’s engaging talk centered on “Phytomicrobiome as Bioinoculant for sustainable crop productivity”. He delved into the world of plant growth promoting bacteria, shedding light on their pivotal role in sustainable agriculture, offering solutions for challenges like drought and disease resistance.
In his thought-provoking presentation, Dr Giridhar Babu Anam tackled the critical issue of “Freshwater Ecosystem under Siege: A deep dive into cyanobacterial blooms and remedial research”. He emphasised the urgency of addressing cyanobacterial blooms and their contamination of aquatic ecosystems, while also exploring the role of phages in mitigating these concerns. Dr Anam highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence and molecular methods in this crucial endeavour.
This Expert Lecture Series provided a unique platform for academic enrichment and a deeper understanding of the critical issues in biochemistry and biotechnology, leaving attendees inspired and better informed for the future.
