Mussoorie, 10 May: The Opening Ceremony of the Annual Inter-House Cultural Extravaganza, Manor Fest, was organised at St George’s College, here, today. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Aloke Lal, former Director General of Police.
The programme began on an auspicious note with a prayer, the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and declaration of the pledge to participate in the true sporting spirit.
Deepali Ballabh, School Cultural Coordinator, delivered the welcome address and wished all the participants of all the four houses.
Chief Guest Aloke Lal unveiled the logo for Manor Fest 2023. In his address, Lal emphasised that education is the development of not just theoretical knowledge but also that encompasses the realm of artistic endeavour. He appreciated the school management for providing the students a platform to develop talent in every sphere. According to Aloke Lal, it is the exploration of creative endeavour that results in holistic development. Accompanying him was his son, Maanas Lal, a renowned author and distinguished artist.
On special request, Maanas Lal delighted the audience with a Kishore Kumar rendition.
The events scheduled for the first day of the three day fest were Indian and Western Solo, Photography, Spell Bee and Dumb Charades.
The judges for events on Day 1 were faculty from neighbouring schools Ritesh Bhattacharya from Convent of Jesus and Mary, Waverly; Ragini Iyer from Dehradun, Ephraim Vinay Singh from Hampton Court, Mussoorie, and RJ Gaurav Bhatt.
