Merit-based scholarship distribution held in memory of Shyam Datt Joshi

Dehradun, 20 May: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi felicitated seven meritorious students who secured first positions in the High School and Intermediate Board Examinations 2025 during a scholarship distribution ceremony held at Government Inter College, Dobhalwala, today. The event was organised in memory of his father, the late Shyam Datt Joshi.

The programme commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony followed by floral tributes to Shyam Datt Joshi. Girl students welcomed the guests with a cultural song performance.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister of Agriculture, Sainik Welfare, and Rural Development, Ganesh Joshi, said, “Education is the key to success in life. When students move forward with hard work, dedication, and discipline, no goal seems impossible to achieve.”
He added that this initiative reflects his respect for his father and his commitment to the bright future of students.

He emphasised that education defines the identity of any society, and more work is needed in this direction. He shared memories from his own school life and encouraged students to never forget their roots.

The Cabinet Minister also highlighted efforts made to strengthen the education system in the Mussoorie constituency. He stated that no student in any school within the constituency now sits on the floor, proper furniture, including chairs and desks, has been provided to all schools.
He also announced future enhancements, including the installation of air conditioning in the school auditorium, establishment of a science laboratory, and construction of a basketball court.

The following students were awarded scholarships – Class 10: Shiva (78.06%), Abhinav Chamoli (68.20%), Dinesh (66.20%), Ananya Pal (60.06%), Priyanshu (60.02%); Class 12: Vandana (66.02%), Kapil (62.06%).

Prominent attendees at the event included Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, Ramsharan Nautiyal, Chief Education Officer Vinod Dhodiyal, Councillor Mohan Bahuguna, Mandal President Pradeep Rawat, Principal Surendra Singh Bisht, Bhawana Chaudhary, Manjeet Rawat, teachers, and a large number of students.
