Dehradun, 30 Mar: The final match of the 3rd Vinay Windlass Memorial All India Club Baseball Tournament was played today at the Pavilion Ground, here, under the aegis of the Uttarakhand Baseball Association. The match was played between Mumbai Rockers, Mumbai, and City Hawk Club, Chandigarh, in which Mumbai Rockers won a thrilling victory and clinched the title.
In the five-inning match played at Pavilion Ground, Mumbai Rockers scored 4 runs in the first inning, while City Hawk Club, Chandigarh, failed to score. From Mumbai’s side, Mughal, Venkatesh, Ajay, and Chirag scored one run each. In the second inning, Mumbai Rockers scored five runs, with Venkatesh, Ajay, Tushar, Neeraj, and Abhay scoring one run each. City Hawk failed to open its account.
In the third and fourth innings, neither Mumbai Rockers nor City Hawk scored any runs. In the fifth and final inning, Chandigarh surrendered to Mumbai and returned to the pavilion without scoring, thus losing the final match by 9 runs. The winning team was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the runner-up team received Rs 75,000 and a trophy.
The Chief Guest, Lalchand Sharma, former Mahanagar President of the Congress Party, presented the awards. The event was attended by dignitaries, including Vimal Harnal, President of the Uttarakhand Baseball Association; Satish Anand, Organising Secretary; Sanjeev Dobhal, Joint Secretary; Gurcharan Singh, President of the Dehradun Olympic Association; UN Chullu, Patron; Brijendra Rana, Rahul Windlass, Pradeep Bisht, Jyoti Ghildiyal, SK Agnihotri, and Anant Mishra.
The umpires for the final match were Charanjit Saini (Chief Plate Umpire), Gurpreet Singh (First Base Umpire), Veer Bahadur Mall (Second Base Umpire), and Mamta Negi (Third Base Umpire). Purnima Rawat was the scorer, and Ravi Kumar was the Match Technical Officer.
