MUSSOORIE, 4 Dec: Preparations have been stepped up for the Winterline Carnival 2019 to be held here. It will begin on 25 December, during which cultural performances and many other programmes will be organised. At present, the administration is considering making this festival better as compared to previous years. SDM, Mussoorie, Varun Chaudhary told media persons, here, that most of the preparations had been completed for the Carnival. On 25 December, hundreds of artists as part of dozens of teams of the Culture Department would organise a parade from Survey Ground, Landour, to the Mall Road, concluding at Gandhi Chowk. The parade will provide a glimpse of the folk culture of Garhwal, Kumaon and Jaunsar- Bawar. Artists from another eight to nine states will also participate. Many artists of Uttarakhand would also perform such as famous singer Aman Shah and Pratyush Joshi. He said promotion of the Winter Carnival is being done in the country and abroad through social media and other means. He is hopeful that, this time, foreign tourists from various countries will also come. He said that during the Carnival, many programmes would be organised with fun sports at various places of the town, with food festivals near the Martyrs’ Memorial at which the chefs of Uttarakhand will serve food of the state. The entire town will be decorated with colourful lights. Opportunity is also being provided to the local artists to display their talent on a larger platform. Present on the occasion were Municipal President Anuj Gupta, Mussoorie BJP Mandal President Mohan Petwal, Kushal Rana, Uttarakhand Hotel Association President Sandeep Sahani, Suriyamani, Sanjay Goyal, Naib Tehsildar Puran Singh Tomar and others.
