Dehradun, 7 Jun: Colonel Anshuman Bhadauria, Principal of Nehru Mountaineering Institute, Uttarkashi, met former Haridwar MP and former Union Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, here, on Wednesday.
Colonel Bhadauria took charge as Principal of NIM on 1 April. He is originally from Lucknow served with the Parachute Regiment. Bhadauria was involved in leading the first relief team during the Kedarnath disaster.
Dr Nishank congratulated him on taking over at NIM. They discussed the potential of adventure tourism and mountaineering in Uttarakhand and linking it with employment.
Nishank also called the role of NIM important in the conservation of the Ganga and the Himalayas. He urged NIM and all the voluntary organisations to work jointly for protection of the Himalayas.
On this occasion, Nishank presented to the Colonel the “Supernatural Beauty of Nature” series of his book, “Dharti Ka Swarg Uttarakhand”.
