DEHRADUN, 25 Mar: State In charge of party affairs in Congress, Anugraha Narayan Singh claimed today that there was no factionalism in the Uttarakhand unit and the party was fully united and determined to win the parliamentary polls. He was addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan, here, today.
Singh further claimed that the people were angry and hugely disappointed with the performance of the Modi Government and the Trivendra Singh Rawat Government in Uttarakhand, and the Congress party would easily win all the five Lok Sabha seats. Rejecting the charge that the party had fielded a weak candidate in Haridwar, Singh asserted that the party high command had selected the right and appropriate candidates in every constituency after much thought.
Singh asserted that the Congress party was committed to the welfare of the poor while the BJP Government under Modi was only concerned about the welfare of select rich persons. He asserted that the promise made by Party President Rahul Gandhi regarding the Minimum Income Guarantee would prove to be milestone towards eradication of poverty! He asserted that the promised scheme was the best social security scheme so far and would change the condition of the 20 percent poorest persons in the country. They would get an amount of Rs 72,000 in their bank accounts every year. He also claimed that Congress was not like BJP, which only made hollow promises and never fulfilled them, adding that, once in power, the Congress Government would make an appropriate provision in the budget to deliver this promise.
Singh claimed that the people in Uttarakhand were disappointed with the state and the Central governments led by the BJP and wanted the Congress to regain power! The environment in the state was heavily in favour of the Congress!
PCC Chief and Tehri LS Candidate Pritam Singh and former minister Dinesh Aggrawal were also present on the occasion!
