Dehradun, 26 Apr: On World Intellectual Property Day, today, the Intellectual Property rights (IPR) Cell and Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Graphic Era Deemed University, organised a workshop titled “IPR Awareness” to raise IPR awareness among faculty, researchers, and young intellectuals.

Himanshu Mittal, Examiner of Patents and Designs, from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India, explained how the patents have improved the GDP and employment sector in the USA, China and Germany, and other developed countries.
Nisha Jangra, Examiner of Patents & Designs, Patent Office, explained how various brands like Coca Cola, Toblerone, etc., protect their design and slogans by filing Designs and Trademark.
She also explained Geographical Indication’, which refers to a sign which is used on products possessing qualities, characteristics, reputation attributable to the geographical origin.
On this occasion Prof (Dr) HN Nagaraja, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era deemed University was also present. Dr Varij Panwar coordinated the event.
