VIKASNAGAR, 17 Oct: President of the ‘Jan Sangharsh Morcha’ and former VC of GMVN Raghunath Singh Negi alleged today that Chief Minister TS Rawat’s wife, Sunita Rawat, had purchased land worth crores of rupees without departmental permission. The Morcha had complained about this to the Governor and the Government. At the Governor’s orders, the Education Directorate had been asked in July 2018 to look into the issue. The District Education Officer was asked to take appropriate action. Addressing journalists at the Morcha office, today, Negi recalled that, despite this, no action was taken because it had to do with the CM’s wife. She is a teacher in a government school in Raipur. A government employee is required to take permission before buying land or a house. The Morcha then knocked on the doors of the Information Commission. The District Education Officer and Director, Education, were asked to report on the matter. These officials refused to provide information, claiming it was Sunita Rawat’s private matter. Negi said that she had violated the service conditions in this regard. Taking a strict stand on the issue, Information Commissioner JP Mamgain has sought the facts to be provided within three weeks. Also present at the press conference were Dilbagh Singh, Sushil Bhardwaj, GS Chauhan, etc.
