CM interacts with writers & litterateurs

Dehradun, 26 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami interacted with senior writers and literary figures from across the state at his Camp Office, on Sunday. On this occasion, the writers presented their books to the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister met each writer individually to inquire about their well-being and discussed their literary contributions and current writings in detail.
The Chief Minister said that writers are not only a mirror of society but also guides in the right direction. The role of writers is crucial in the overall development of Uttarakhand, the preservation of its rich cultural heritage, and the promotion of social consciousness. He said that the state government is continuously striving to create a strong literary environment in the state and encourage writers.
The Chief Minister added that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has been the land of penance and work for many sages and saints, including Maharishi Ved Vyas. This sacred land has produced writers who have taken Indian literature to new heights. He said that everyone must make a collective effort to develop a culture of study and writing in the new generation.
The Chief Minister reminded that the state government, through the Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan, is working to collect, preserve, and publish the state’s old, scattered, and unpublished literature. He said that a plan is underway to establish two literary villages to develop Uttarakhand as an important centre of literary tourism. To honour and encourage writers, the Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman was instituted in 2022 and the Long Term Literary Service Award in 2025.
The Chief Minister extended his support to the 1,000-book donation campaign organised by the Rudraprayag District Administration on the occasion of the Harela festival. During a dialogue with authors, he announced that he would personally purchase 50 books from the authors present and provide them to the Rudraprayag public library.
It is worth noting that a book collection drive is being conducted for the public library in Rudraprayag on the theme of “One Book, One Tree, One Bright Future”. The Chief Minister praised this innovative initiative, saying that books are the foundation of knowledge, values, and positive thinking in society. This contribution will not only promote the culture of book donation but will also encourage the habit of reading among youth.
On this occasion, Chairman of Media Advisory Committee Prof Govind Singh, former Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, former Director General of Police Anil Raturi, Secretary Ranveer Singh Chauhan, District Magistrate, Nainital, Lalit Mohan Raiyal, litterateurs Prof Sudha Rani Pandey, Alok Lal, Buddhinath Mishra, Prem Kumar Sahil, Shiv Mohan Singh, Ram Mohan Singh, Neha Negi, Kulbhushan Kain, Anmol Jain, Roopa Soni, Amar Kharbanda, Sheeshpal Gusain, Ramakant, Devesh Joshi, Prabha Pant, Ruby Gupta, Randhir Kumar Arora and many other litterateurs and dignitaries were present.
