Speaker Bhushan inaugurates free meal service at Kotdwar Govt Hospital

Kotdwar, 2 Feb: The Speaker of the Uttarakhand Assembly and Kotdwar MLA, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, inaugurated a free meal service for the attendants of BPL category patients at the Government Medical Base Hospital here, today, organised by the Jai Durga Social Welfare Society. On this occasion, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan stated that the “Jai Durga” Society is named after her grandfather, Jai Ballabh Khanduri, and grandmother, Durga Devi, who have been the guiding forces in her life.

Ritu Khanduri Bhushan shared that she established the Jai Durga Social Welfare Society in 2000, with the main aim of serving the poor and needy. She further mentioned that the society not only operates in Uttarakhand but also provides free services at AIIMS in Delhi. The society has assisted people in various fields, and it has extended help to many families in remote areas of Uttarakhand.

Bhushan also mentioned that the society has appointed a volunteer at AIIMS Rishikesh to assist OPD patients and their attendants.

Speaker Bhushan emphasised that, even before becoming an MLA, she was engaged in social work through this society, and after assuming office, her efforts have become more impactful. She expressed confidence that the society’s initiatives will help people from all sections of society and contribute to the creation of a better society.

The Treasurer of the society, Devyani Bhushan, also commented on this initiative, saying, “My family has been serving Uttarakhand for many generations, and I am proud of it. Today, we have taken a small step with the Base Hospital in Kotdwar, and there is much more to be done.”

This free meal service at the Kotdwar Base Hospital will provide significant relief to the attendants of patients. The MLA described this initiative as an important step towards fostering a sense of cooperation and dedication in society.
