Speaker holds all-party meeting before upcoming Vidhan Sabha session

Dehradun, 31 Oct: A meeting of party leaders was called under the chairmanship of Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan regarding the upcoming session of the fifth assembly of Uttarakhand. Talks were held between the leaders of all the parties on various topics. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal, Leader of the Opposition Yashpal Arya, Md Shahzad of the Bahujan Samaj Party and Independent MLA Sanjay Dobhal were present at this meeting.

The issue of convening the upcoming assembly session in Gairsain or Dehradun was discussed. The Speaker requested the cooperation of the leaders of all the parties in the coming session to conduct the House peacefully and smoothly. She said that the issues raised in public interest and development of the state would be discussed positively in the House and equal opportunities would be given to members of the ruling as well as the opposition parties.

Interacting with the media, the Speaker said that she had put forth her point of view before the government at the meeting regarding convening the session in Gairsain or Dehradun. The decision is to be taken by the government in this regard. She said that the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat is fully ready to conduct the session at Bhararisain Vidhan Sabha Bhawan or Dehradun at any time. The upcoming session is to be convened before 16 December. The House represents the collective aspirations of the state and it is the responsibility of the members to give voice to the concerns of those they represent respecting the dignity and rules of the House, she added.
