DEHRADUN, 9 Nov: An Inter-School Singing competition was organised by St Thomas’ College on Saturday as a part of the on-going school festival ‘Spectrum-2024”. Spectrum the name itself signifies a flash of colours and music is the soul of life.
The schools that participated were Carman School, Dalanwala, St Jude’s School, Summer Valley School, St Joseph’s Academy & St Thomas’ College.
The programme was held under three categories – English Solo Singing, Hindi Duet Singing and English Choir Singing. The singers were restricted to sing songs only from the 1970 to 1980 era which added a twist in the competition.
The esteemed judges Jyotika Gonsalves – Ex-Principal St Xavier’s School, Amrit Kaur Anand – Senior Music Teacher, Convent of Jesus and Mary, Dehradun & Alexander Lazarus a multi-talented musician and singer adjudicated the event.
The entire campus vibrated with the melodious songs presented by the participants and the music was further embellished with a mesmerising performance of background dancers colourfully dressed.
In the Solo Singing Category, Pragya Chauhan of Summer Valley School was declared the winner and the runners-up was Vartika Khatri of St Jude’s School, in the Duet Singing Category Shaurya Vardhan Bhatt and Arhaanna Kochar of St Joseph’s Academy were declared the winners and the runners-up were Harshit Bahukhandi & Prerna Ranakoti of St Thomas’ College and in the Group Singing Category St Jude’s School were declared the winners and Summer Valley School the Runners-up.
The overall winners of the “Spectrum” – 2024 Inter-School Singing Competition was St Joseph’s Academy and the Runners-up was St Jude’s School.
Chief Guest, Susan Mann, Ex-Thomasian, Ex-Teacher and Principal of Carman School, Dalanwala gave an inspiring speech to the students in her address and appreciated the event she also graciously gave away the prizes.
Distinguished guests who attended the event were M Gardner, Principal, St Jude’s School, LM Sharma eminent personality, Robert Lawless, R Chhabra & Mallika Jain.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the Principal, RV Gardner, Ex-MLA who thanked all the Participating schools and their principals for sending the students for this competition.
