DEHRADUN, 24 Oct: The Founders’ Day celebrations of Summer Valley School, this year, were spread over two days. The students showcased various activities which won appreciation from all corners. The celebrations were held on 23 and 24 October, in which the students captivated the audience with a mesmerising display of music, dance and drama. The programme commenced with an enchanting dance performance presented by the students of Sun Valley School. Following this, Principal Col (Dr) Jaswinder Singh presented the Annual Report, highlighting the achievements of the school and the students in various fields during the last one year and enumerating the plans for the future. On 23 October, Kamaljeet Singh, Advocate, was the Chief Guest, while on 24 October, Aloke Lal, former Director General of Police, was the Chief Guest. He gave away the academic and allied activities awards to the students who had excelled in various fields during the year. Cash prizes and individual awards for scoring the highest marks in ICSE and ISC examinations were also presented to the meritorious students. The cultural programme began with the play, ‘Kalyanam’, which portrayed the marriage of Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The play reflected the essence of Hindu culture and the sanctity of marriage. The programme concluded with the Chief Guest addressing the gathering. Dr Ashok Wasu, Director, Summer Valley; Parul Goyal, Associate Director; Abhaya Wasu Mansahia, Director, Academics; Akshaya Wasu; Pooja Arora, Principal, Sun Valley, were present on the occasion. In keeping with the school’s tradition, Head Boy Subhodeep Bhattacharjee and Head Girl Vartika Bhardwaj shared their views and experiences with the gathering.
