Mussoorie, 18 Oct: Tibetan Home Foundation School, Happy Valley, celebrated its 29th Annual Athletics Meet with great zeal, here, today. Around two thousand students of the school distributed in five houses, namely Nyatri, Songtsen, Tirel, Namri, Trisong put on their best shows in the field of sports and Games. Exciting, thrilling and photo finish moments were witnessed by the audience.
Earlier, Dr Passang Dhondup, Principal of the school, in his welcome address expressed his gratitude to the audience, Chief Guest Dr Sanjeev Chopra and Mrs Chopra, the Special Guests and Guests of Honour.
Dr Sanjeev Chopra, Director, LBSNAA Mussoorie, opened the 29th Athletics Meet and hoisted the Olympic Flag. In his address, he congratulated the General Secretary, Karma Chungdak, Assistant General Secretary Gendun Rinzin, Principal Dr Dhundup, staff and children of the school on the occasion. He appreciated the School Band and the spectacular march past of the Houses, who showcased a disciplined and orderly display. Dr Sanjeev Chopra and Mrs Chopra expressed blessed the children of THFS for their dedication, discipline, zeal on the play field and art of learning.
Another eye opening activity was the aerobics synchronised display by fifteen hundred students on the field.
The Special Guest of the Day was Chairman, Nagar Palika Mussoorie, Anuj Gupta; and Guests of Honour, Principal, CST Mussoorie, SP Singh and Rector CST, Thakchoe Tsering. The distinguished guests distributed the winning certificates to the winners of the events.
Phuntsok of Trirel House set a record in 200 metres sprint among seniors. Chime Dolma of Songtsen House was adjudged first in 200 metres among Inter Girls category. In long Jump, Kunga Drimmy of Songtsen, in Shot Put, Sonam Tenzin of Nyatri House, won the Gold medals in senior categories.
The Overall Boys’ Championship and First Position was bagged by Trirel House. The Overall Girls’ Championship was bagged by Songtsen House. Nyima Tsering and Tenzin Yeshi excelled in different activities. SP Singh, Guest of Honour, gave away the prizes and declared the meet closed.
