DEHRADUN, 18 July: On Wednesday, in Lekhak Gaon of Dehradun district, under the aegis of Sparsh Himalaya Foundation, a tree plantation program was organized in Thano-based cultural center on the occasion of birthday of former Union Education Minister and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Harela Festival. The Chief Guest was Padma Shri awardee folk singer Madhuri Badthwal.
On this occasion, Vice President of Sparsh Himalaya Foundation Vidushi Nishank, Managing Director of Sunrise Academy Pooja Pokhriyal, Balkishan Chamoli, Secretary Sparsh Himalaya Foundation along with litterateur Dr Savita Mohan, Counselor Shakti Manocha, Brij Mohan Sharma, environmentalist, Lalima Verma, retired Assistant Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Amit Pokhriyal from UCOST were present.
The program was hosted by Monika Sharma. Dr Savita Mohan and Himanshu Darmora highlighted the importance of Lekhak Gaon. He said that in future, the establishment of Lekhak Gaon as a centre for such cultural and artistic activities will prove to be beneficial and fruitful for the future generation who have a flair for art.
Students of Sunrise Academy and students and lecturers of B.Ed department also participated enthusiastically in this tree plantation programme.
