Dehradun, 22 Oct: The Uttaranchal Golf Federation conducted its annual general meeting and election at DSOI, Garhi Cantt, here, today.
The new governing officials were elected on the occasion. These were President – Major Gen Sanjay Puri, FRIMA, Dehradun; Vice President- PC Tyagi, FRIMA, Dehradun;
Secretary- Dr Harish Sharma, FRI, Dehradun; Treasurer- PK Gupta, FRI, Dehradun; and Joint Secretary- Sumeru Bahuguna, FRIMA, Dehradun.
Executive Council members are Dr Sunil Thakur, FRIMA, Dehradun; SG Bharghav; Col AS Beri; Col KS Bisht, AEPTA, Pithoragarh;
Col Oliver Singh, AEPTA, Dehradun; Col Satpal Ahlawat, Roorkee; Pankaj Paliwal, Nainital; and Dr Charu Sharma (Lady Representative), Dehradun.
Officials from various districts will have the advantage of cooperating with each other for the betterment of golf in the state.
UGF successfully conducted two IGU feeder tours and an IGU amateur feeder tour, last year. Golfers belonging to economically weaker sections were exempted from the tournament entry fees.
Secretary Dr Harish Sharma had a meeting with the international R&A official golf ruling committee and the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the promotion of Golf in Uttarakhand.
In the 37th National games, two golfers, Manan Mahajan and Utkarsh Negi will be representing Uttarakhand for the first time. In a recent inter school golf championship held at the Raj Bhawan Golf Course, St Joseph’s, Nainital, won in the boys’ category while St Mary’s Convent won in the girls’ category.
