U’chal University leads THE Impact Rankings – 2024

Dehradun, 12 Jun: With the announcement of the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking-2024 of universities, based on the assessment of the efforts made to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, the world-class achievements of higher education institutions have been highlighted. The Impact Rankings assess universities worldwide based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on issues like poverty alleviation, education, gender equality, zero hunger, clean water, clean energy, peace, and justice. As many as 2031 universities from 112 countries worldwide participated in this year’s competition.

Uttaranchal University stood first in Uttarakhand, fifth in India and 25th in the world in the category of United Nations Goal-7 (affordable and clean energy) and first in Uttarakhand, seventh in India and Ranked in the range of 201 to 300 globally in the category of Goal-2 (end hunger), whereas in the overall rank category, it was ranked 32nd in India and in the range of 601 to 800 Globally.

To celebrate the unprecedented success of Uttaranchal University in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings-2024, a special programme was organised at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of the University.

In the programme, the University’s achievements and global identity were celebrated by cutting a cake by the President of the University, Jitendra Joshi, in the presence of all the teachers, researchers, officers and employees of the University. He said that this achievement is the result of the joint efforts of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Research and Innovation Division of the University. On this occasion, he appreciated and rewarded the teachers and researchers of the university who did excellent work.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Dharma Buddhi said that today Uttaranchal University has made its mark at the global level, leaving behind many IITs and NITs. He said that the university has established special Centres of Excellence to achieve sustainable development goals. He reiterated the university’s commitment to create an environment for maximum achievement of sustainable development goals.

On this occasion, Vice President of the University Ankita Joshi, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Executive Director Dr Abhishek Joshi IQAC Director Rajesh Devradi, Sudhir Jugran, Rishidev Nautiyal, Director of DRI Dr Rajesh Singh and Dr Anita Gehlot including all the Deans, Directors, Principals and teachers of the University were present.
